Paid Surveys in Africa: Why Surveys End Early and How to Qualify for More

Why a paid survey can end after a few questions, what it means, and practical ways to qualify for more surveys in Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia.

If you have tried paid surveys, you will have seen this: you answer a few questions and the survey ends. It is called a screen-out, and it is the most common frustration with surveys anywhere in the world.

Why surveys end early

Researchers pay to hear from specific groups of people, for example a certain age range, people who own a particular phone, or people who shop in a certain way. The first questions check whether you belong to that group. If you do not, the survey ends so that neither side wastes time. It is not a judgement of you, and it does not count against your account.

A survey can also close because it has already collected enough answers from people like you. That is called being over quota.

How to qualify for more

  • Complete your profile questions. Survey partners use them to show you surveys you are more likely to match.
  • Answer honestly and consistently. Partners check for answers that contradict each other. Inconsistent answers lead to fewer surveys, and can lead to rewards being refused.
  • Read every question. Attention checks are common. Rushing through is the quickest way to be screened out.
  • Try at different times of day. New surveys arrive throughout the day.
  • Use one account on your own device. One account per person is the rule, and shared or borrowed devices can trigger security checks.

When a reward does not arrive

Points are added when the survey partner confirms your completion, which is usually quick but can take longer. If you finished a survey and nothing arrived, open your earnings history on Earnify Africa and use Report missing reward on that offer. Add a screenshot of the completion screen if you have one; it helps the partner find your record.

Are paid surveys worth it?

They suit short pockets of free time. Rewards are shown before you start, so you can choose the ones worth your time. They will not replace an income, and no honest platform should promise that they will.
